Make your plan now to get fully vaccinated by November 22nd

All CFPB staff are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by November 22nd (with very limited exceptions for reasonable accommodations or sincerely held religious belief). This requirement applies to all bargaining unit employees, whether you are working in person or fully working from home.

You'll need to book your appointment(s) by certain dates in order to be fully vaccinated by the deadline:

Use your COVID-19 Admin Leave to book and attend your appointment

Remember, you have up to 20 hours every pay period of paid COVID-19 Admin Leave, which you can use to make your appointment, go get your shot and to recover from any side effects if you have them. You can learn what to expect by reading union members’ vaccine stories from earlier this year, though keep in mind that the vaccines are much more widely available than they were just a few months ago when these stories were written!

Depending on where you live, not every vaccine may be available - for example, the Johnson and Johnson may not be available near you. So don't wait until the last minute or you could face disciplinary action if you miss the fully vaccinated November 22nd deadline. Make your plan now!

Vaccines are safe and available for FREE where you live

Over 380 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the United States from December 14, 2020, through September 13, 2021, according to the CDC. Everyone aged 12 years and older should get your free COVID-19 vaccination as soon as possible.

  • You can book a vaccine appointment at Vaccines.gov.
  • Have questions? Most people have questions about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines, the differences between the three available, and what to expect when getting vaccinated or after (such as common side effects or when the vaccine is fully in effect). The CDC has a great FAQ about how the vaccines were developed so quickly, how we know they are safe, why CDC recommends getting vaccinated if you are pregnant, and more.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have medical concerns unique to your health conditions.
  • Read about NTEU 335 Steward and Midwest Region Examiner Charles Perkins's story of volunteering for the J&J vaccine trial.
  • NTEU has FAQs summarizing the legal precedent for this federal requirement and other information for union members: www.nteu.org/faqs (members only, login required)

We support everyone’s right to continue working from home so that everyone’s health is protected. Vaccines are only one essential layer of protection against COVID-19. We will continue to make sure CFPB maintains multiple layers of protection in addition to the vaccine requirement, including indoor mask requirements, social distancing, and paid COVID-19 leave.

In solidarity,

Your Health and Safety Committee
